The McCarthy era was the first time "In God We Trust" was mandated on all money. I never said it had never been on any money before. It had been on coins before, but was not required on all money. The religion nuts required it on all money in the McCarthy era because of the superstitious and totally ridiculous notion that we could suck up to God to give us an advantage over the evil Soviet atheists.
