Americans had best rethink the "war on terror" while they still have the liberty to do so.

That's the problem. Americans did rethink it and voted accordingly in '04 to oust Bush, but he hijacked yet another election, as is pointed out in the article. And they rethought it again in '06 when they elected the opposition party. Unfortunately, the Democrats have proven too spineless to do their duty: They need to impeach Bush already! Americans tried to vote him out, but that didn't work.

His crimes far surpass those of Nixon or Andrew Johnson, and certainly those of Clinton. Nixon's crimes were serious and thus impeachment was warranted. Even Congressmen loyal to Nixon for years committed to voting to convict. Today's Republicans should also commit to convicting Bush. He's not a conservative. He's obviously not a liberal. He's an oligarch. He makes Nixon look like a boy scout.

The Democrats could draw up articles of impeachment, but they couldn't convict Bush without help from Republicans. It's time for Republicans to step up to the plate and prove they care about their country and the rule of law. Bush's crimes go way beyond the "high crimes and misdemeanors" against the state that is required by the Constitution. And it wouldn't be enough to convict Bush. Then we would just get more of the same with Cheney who is just as bad. Both would have to be impeached and convicted.

It's understandable that Republicans wouldn't be too thrilled about Pelosi serving as interim President. So make a deal in which she steps down as Speaker of the House for someone more moderate in exchange for convicting Bush and Cheney.

The President of the United States is a criminal. I don't want that to be true, but it is. I was willing to give him a chance after 9/11. I actually thought he did some things right in the aftermath of the tragedy, as did even Al Gore. I thought he showed people genuine compassion. At the time I hoped he would turn out to be a better President than I thought he would. However, the few things he did right do not make up for his crimes.

The Democrats need to grow spines and impeach this criminal, and the Republicans need to swallow hard and support it! That's what we need to get our Democracy back.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if another 9/11 occurs before the '08 elections and Bush uses it as an excuse to call off the election and stay in power in violation of the Constitution. He's shown no qualms about violating it before.
