Subject:         Would you believe this pedophile Nazi rapist?

Imagine the following person is going to offer an opinion about the physical world we live in. This guy is the most rabid Nazi on the face of the earth. He doesn't deny the Holocaust. He loves it. His motto is "six million more" and he has the Nazi flag, a poster of Hitler, and a poster of dead Jews at Auschwitz on his wall. He also enjoys raping children between the ages of 5 and 12, both males and females and advocates the repeal of all age of consent laws.

Okay, are you ready for this psycho sicko's opinion on the physical universe? Here it is: If you hold out a hammer and drop it, the force of gravity will make it fall to the ground. If such an idea is espoused by such a despicable person, it couldn’t possibly be true, could it?

My point is that an argument should be evaluated based on the merits of the argument, not based on the virtue or lack thereof of the person making the argument. And yet right wingers dismiss global warming because they don’t like Al Gore.

In my opinion, Al Gore’s virtues are considerably above those of a Nazi pedophile rapist. He does have his flaws. I think he acted like a jerk at the 2000 Presidential debates. Conservatives have plenty negative things to say about Gore, many of them fabricated BS. However, even if every negative thing said of Al Gore were true, it’s not his virtue as a human being that determines the seriousness of global warming. It’s the science. And the science supports the fact of global warming and its devastating results. It’s a slam dunk at this point, and has been for some time. Yet many right wingers are glad to let their distain for Al Gore blind them to the damage we’re doing to the planet, and the irreparable harm that this will cause to human beings and other species worldwide. Nice to see they’ve got their priorities straight.

If we have to lose coastline land, if we have to have droughts and hurricanes, if the Colorado skiing industry has to be destroyed, it’s all worth it if we can just make Al Gore look bad.
