Still, I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I still see any positive aspects at all about religion. There is no doubt that faith has had a profound impact on the lives of many, providing solace, comfort, and a sense of meaning to their lives. I still have a remnant of respect for "some" people of faith - the ones who genuinely walk like they talk. Unfortunately, the negatives effects of faith on the world community seem to far outweigh any positives. The negative side of faith/religion is almost unfathomable. I submit that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are purely religious in nature - fundamentalist Islam vs the Judaeo-Christian west. Radical Judaism (Zionism) managed to to expel the rightful inhabitants of Palestine and create their own nation. Nowadays Zionists also include Evangelical Christians who support the Israelis almost as proxy Crusaders - more familiar and palatable inhabitants of the "Holy Land" than Muslim heathens whom they understand even less than the Jews (after all Jesus was a Jew). The situation truly seems impossible.
