Film producer Aaron Russo -- who died last week of cancer -- was a fascinating individual. He was Bette Midler's manager for 7 years when she became a superstar. He produced movies like "The Rose" and "Trading Places" and big TV specials, won Grammys, Tonys and Emmy awards. In recent years he got politically active, has an interesting documentary he made called "America: Freedom to Facism" which is an expose of the IRS.

He made a video called "Mad Ad Hell" in the 1990s in which he criticized Nafta, the "War on Drugs," and the concept of national ID card. He ran in the Republican primary for governor of Nevada in 1998 and came in second with 26% of the vote. He planned to run for Governor again in 2002 but was diagnosed with cancer.

He is also someone who believed that 9/11 was an inside job, and in a recent interview claimed that Nick Rockefeller told him that 9/11 was going to happen 11 months before it did, and Rockefeller told him 9/11 would lead to a permanent "war on terror" which was a joke but which would be used to make war in Afghanistan and Iraq in order to put oil pipelines in Afganistan and to have a base to control oil in Iraq.
