I think it is a very difficult decision that should be made by a woman and her doctor and it is between the woman and her God. It isn't for the next door neighbor to decide and it isn't for a politician to decide.

I fully believe that just as many Republicans have abortions as do Democrats - Republicans just see how they can use it to get votes. They had six years to do away with abortion but didn't even touch it.

And, if anyone brings up "partial birth ban" as proof they tried -- my opinion on that is to first of all find out the real medical term for the procedure rather than using the PNAC-dictionary. It is a procedure that isn't used for birth control - it is a medical procedure used usually because both mother and child will die otherwise. So, tell a mother of six who is married to a slacker that she must die because politics dictate it? Not me. Again, it is her decision and it is between her and her God.

They should be rare but safe. I have no doubts that abortions have been around as long as pregnancies have been. I'm sure that in the middle ages, someone knew what to drink and/or do to terminate a pregnancy --- is hiding it better?

I don't think that a woman could make the decision lightly. Whether she had consensual sex or was raped is not an issue that a politician should get to decide.

Bottom line: The easy way out is to simply say, "I'm against it." Everyone is against it, I'm sure. Weighing the reasons and wearing the shoes are not so easy. I don't think we can legislate morality.

When I think of the subject in a political manner, the question is: What should our government control? That's what I base my political opinion upon -- not whether or not I think a woman should choose it.

M.
