otherwise, we actually turn people away from Christ, imo. I can talk with someone I know to be an alcoholic (for example) and be friends with them and still let them know that I'm not one and won't participate. I think that my example to that person would have much more of a positive effect than if I were to turn completely away from him/her and yell "sinner!!!!!!"

It bothers me that in today's world we are actually persecuting different groups because they don't fit that very narrow definition that MAN created of Christianity.

Also, I can see a difference in what I want MY GOVERNMENT to have control over vs. what I think is right and wrong. We cannot legislate morality *but* if we do, then let's go all the way with it --- gossip and backbiting get the same attention drawn to it as people want to attach to abortion and gay marriage. After all, the Bible doesn't list sins in any order - they are equal.

*Government*, however, in my opinion, should list offenses in a certain order -- "does this action hurt others?" -- if so, make a law and prosecute. But, I don't think we have enough policemen on the streets to regulate much of what many want to be controlled by law rather than moral obligation.

IMO,
M.
