Thank you for sharing the article regarding my son, Spc. Latseen Benson. Just a few corrections. The article erroneously reported that my son was injured in Tikrit but he was actually injured in Kirkuk by a remotely detonated IED (Improvised Explosive Device). He was not in a coma as he was in a drug induced coma, and came out of it at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He spent several days at the hospital in Germany. He lost both of his legs, however, he did not lose his arm (he did lose a finger). These injuries are regrettably not uncommon with IED injuries, and some do not survive. There are now thousands of young men and women with similar injuries. I have to note that Alaskan Congressman Don Young never even made it to Walter Reed to visit my son. We will continue to pay for this war in more ways than we can now imagine. My son continues to recover at Walter Reed. Our family has always been proud to serve, but this war, and the use of stop loss, stretches the notions of sound judgement. My son was injured 13 days after he completed his four years of service.
