China is a capitalist country run by a totalitarian communist government. Go figure. But this business and industrial aristocracy creates a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite. They work in unison to suppress the power of labor, since it's the only real threat to the regime so labor unions are either eliminated entirely or suppressed completely. Thus, workers receive low wages, low benefits and the bulk of the created wealth goes to the partnership of government and capitalists elites. Much like when the children worked as slaves in our so called "free market" in the 19th century until the reformists went to work.
