Subject:         weights/cardio workout foods

What do you all use post workout as a recovery food? I am currently doing a weight loss program with the goal of losing 20lb (lost 10 so far, the last 10 are hard as even my pre program weight was in range of my BMI, but I wanted to look more fit and toned). Unfortunately there is alot of emphasis on eating meat and dairy in this program, although I mix in grains and beans, etc. I used to be a lacto ovo vegatarian about 5-6 years ago, with a brief stint being vegan. It is my plan to eventually go back to being vegan...I am working it in slowly as I have a family, picky eaters to deal with, etc.

I cannot afford protien drinks like Vega all the time. One thing I like post workout is an apple with almond butter, or nuts and dried fruit, or (I know it is dairy but...) plain yogurt with almond butter, and whey protien added.

Does anyone have any vegan ideas though???
