The simple answer is to remember that body-fat gain or loss is a function of positive or negative energy balance. In otherwords, are you eating more/less than your burning. Since you already sound athletic and are planning to increase your miles, consider getting a body composition assessment. It is difficult to know for sure by the scale how your body will respond to the increased miles, but if possible you want to avoid burning muscle... Peace, RMS
