Hi All... Well, the dr. finally laid it on the line last night. He *strongly urged* me to do some aerobic exercise as opposed to just walking. He wants me to do something that will elevate my heart rate for 30 minutes at a time. This is going to be bloody near impossible for me, but I'd like to give it a "college try." There is a biking/jogging path near my home, and it seems like the easiest thing would be to try jogging - at least it would be convenient and cost-effective. I hate jogging and running in any form, partly because I have zero endurance. Last time I did it was under duress in high school gym class, and I somehow managed to get to where I could jog, slowly, for half a mile without stopping, then pain would make me walk again. That was 15 years ago. The thing I'm concerned about now is, how can I start doing this and do it safely? I've heard horror stories of people who have worn out the cartilege in their knees or having to get knee and hip replacements because they've somehow injured themselves running and jogging. The LAST thing I need is that kind of trouble. RS
