I've been feeding two abandoned cedar waxwing babies for about 2 weeks. I read that they eat berries and bugs...there are lots of blackberries this time of year so I have mixed that with some soaked parrot pellets to keep them going. I want to teach them to be able to take care of themselves. I'm getting a 3x2x2 foot cage with small holes from my mom, and plan to put it out side near the blackberry vines and string a few through. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. I thought I could also put them by our compost pile where there are little flies...up the road a ways is where we picked them up, and a more suitable habitat, because thats the only place we've ever seen the adults. But I fear letting them go up there because I need to be available for them too??
