I've got one additional suggestion. Consider starting and relgiously maintaining a fitness journal chronicling your daily activity. This can become an extremely useful tool for keeping track what you're doing and where your are in any cycle. In addition in the future it can be useful to look back and determine what worked and what didn't. The journal need not be rocket science. Remember the principle. Record the exercise, duration, intensity &/or perceived level of exertion. A weekly record of your weight would also be useful. Buy a special journal dedicated to this purpose and keep it with your workout gear.

I've started keeping a food journal of everything I eat and found that helpful as well. We all lie about what we take in during the course of the day (or maybe its just me) and those sweets add up.
Oh, and another suggestion (I know i said i'd only make one but i lied).

You can save major cash by getting a set of used weights. Weight sets, being iron or metal, virtually never depreciate. They're thus a great item to by "pre-owned". I've seen a 110 pound barbell/dumbell set and bench for as little as $30 used.(The 110 lb set is the basic minimal set) Look in the classified adds or perhaps there's a spcial weekly mag where you live which only features want-adds. That was how i started. My then-boyfriend got me a used set and bench for the princely sum of $30. I then found folks were always giving away weights they had in the basement/garage/attic that weren't any longer used. Just be alert for the deals.

And finally a third suggestion (OK, so i really lied about making just one). Consider taking up a bicycle for transportation. If you don't own a bike you can get one used. You'll save money, save the planet and get a workout while biking to work/class.
