Subject: Abcess without a cavity

Hi, I was in need of some advice. I have an abcess in my gum under one of my teeth, and I dont have any cavities. None. What is causing this? Ive always had good teeth and this has happened twice now. I made an appointment with a Dentist but I would like to know why this has happened before I go there.
