I just had mine put in a week ago. I'm 27 and haven't had children yet so i was told it could be more painful due to the cervix being tighter. It wasn't bad! Just a mild cramp that only lasts about 10 seconds- assuming your doc is experienced with inserting them! My doc injected a numbing solution first (not with a needle) :) which I was told was a pretty new thing- so I would recommend asking about it- it's supposed to help a lot with the cramping during insertion. I felt just fine after- no unusual cramping- my period stopped on time- and no spotting or anything since! Besides this site freaking me out and not being able to find the string- so far so good!
