I too have ParaGuard. I had my procedure yesterday. I also drove myself home and was so delirious from the pain that I could barely focus on my driving. I also ended up in the emergency room doubled over, crying in pain. My e.r. doc told me, after x-rays, that everything was fine. In fact some women, especialy those who have not had children or have always experienced heavey crampy periods, can experience sivear side effects from this contraceptive. She also told me to be on the look out for infection, more so if I was very sexullaly active. ParaGuard also has a risk of tubal pregnancies do to the fact that the hormones your body creates in response to the copper, in theory, expel fertilized eggs. I am very upset. Most of the info I just gave to you was from my e.r. doc or from my own personal research AFTER I had the procedure. I read all the info available to me at the doctors office and the ParaGuard pamphlet before I had the procedure. The ParaGuard web sight does not even have the above info. My advise to you is, when in doubt see you doctor. Also do some research of your own and see what you find and how it makes you feel. Never be afraid to ask for a second doctor's opinion. If I had I may not have ended up in the e.r. last night. And last but not least, do not neglect your personal comfort. There are many more forms of contraceptives out there. This one may not be right for you. You can always have it taken out. Take care of yourself and good luck.
