Practitioners of Ayurvedic medicine teaches that most modern cleansers strip vital oils off of your skin and/or are too harshly abrasive, and can do more harm than good, especially if used daily. It's recommended that, to clean your skin, you make a simple cleansing paste called an ubtan - chickpea or other flour, or even oatmeal, made into a paste with water or milk and with a few drops of oil added (sesame is a good universal choice). Use this paste to scrub your skin, then rinse it off. As a toner, you can use rosewater, and as a moisturizer, mix a little bit of sesame oil, rosewater, and aloe vera gel in your hand, then apply. If you want a bit of pampering, you can use clay masks or even make your own with mashed strawberries! There are specific variations for dry, oily, acne-prone, and sensitive skin, but that's a good, basic set of formulas. It's not very expensive, and it leaves your skin looking fantastic!
