I've had my ParaGuard for almost five years. My period lasts 12-14 days and is HEAVY! almost the whole time. I never did feel the string but I have gone for a ultrasound at about 3 years and they said it was there and was fine. I wouldn't recomend this to too many people but works great for me. I've got used to all the bleeding and tampons and can't wait for the day I never have to use birth control agian. Heavy bleeding is normal. Pain is normal. Long periods are normal. But always check for the string and if you can't find it have someone who can, even if it is just your husband.
