I was actually thinking about the same thing--trying the copper iud paraguard. That was, until I started researching... I was on the nuva ring for the first year of my marriage. Thought I loved it because I didn't have to remember to take a pill every day. However, I had no sex drive whatsoever and it I definitely did not feel like myself. I then switched to avian last month, but I don't feel any different, just weight gain and more anxiety. So I thought I'd try paraguard b/c it doesn't have hormones. However, I researched it on the internet a little and found that many people have suffered from hair loss, severe bleeding, and still no sex drive. I'm beginning to hate BC altogether. I also don't want to have children for at least 3 years. Using just condoms scares me, but it may be better than dealing with all the side effects of BC...
