I have never seen a rice cooker with a glass bowl. These appliances work by turning off when the "button" in the middle of the base senses a certain temperature, meaning that the water is gone and the rice is cooked. I don't think glass would be as good a conductor of heat as the metal, so the rice would become dry or burnt. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.
