Hi. Would anyone be interested in creating a short term support group in the Los Angeles area? Actually, my idea would be that maybe 2 or 3 (or more) of us (no tag-along friends, spouses, pets, or kids allowed!) each with the serious goal of losing 10 to 15lbs (or more) could gather each Saturday morning to 1.) walk for 3+ hours 2.) discuss nutrition, weight gain and loss (how, when, why, etc), 3.) discuss food diaries (what did we eat the past week, perhaps critique each other's diets, etc), 4.) discuss and chart progress, etc I seriously want to commit to something like this but I feel I can't do it alone. I know I can do this with the support of other like-minded individuals. My rough ideas: Meet at say the Universal City redline station, buy all day Metro pass for $5, take subway one day all the way to Wilshire district, walk several miles, perhaps tour museums, then walk back till exhausted. Next time, same thing but to Downtown LA (business district, Little Tokyo, etc), another time head to Santa Monica, or Griffith Park hiking trail, etc. Point is to make it fun, but be prepared for a workout. Strictly walking at a moderate pace... No need for overkill in this blistering heat. All the while, discuss our progress, goals, etc. I'm thinking maybe 9am to 1pm each Saturday, or earlier to avoid traffic. 7am would be tough, but we'd be done by noon. If everyone was single, or not pressed for time, we could end the trek with lunch at a different vegetarian restaurant each week. I'm just trying to think of ways to make this fun, yet productive. So I'm thinking this would be an 8 to 12 month commitment. We could perhaps agree to continue indefinitely till each member achieved at least 50% of his/her goals. In summary: I know this all sounds kinda cheesy, like some wanna-be Anthony Robbins crap, but I dont care. I want to lose weight for my health, self image, etc. And I want to do it on the cheap! And I'm confident it can be done! Please respond if you're interested! Thanks for reading this far.
