I'm a stress-eater too, especially while studying. It took a while for me to figure out that my body and brain were just using food as a distraction from my work to ease the anxiety. So, even though it's bad to pull myself away from my work if I'm pressed for time, when I get the urge to run to the kitchen, I stop myself (when I can), curl up on the couch, and take a nap. I figure that eating is going to pull me away from my work too, but sleeping will help me to relax enough to return to my work in ten or twenty minutes feeling focused much more than food would, espcially since eating usually just adds to the stress anyway ("oh no, how many hours on my stationary bike was THAT worth?").
