Those oats really are hard as a rock, so I don't really think that would be possible. I cook them pretty gently though, never raising the heat above low. Using the thermos method, I guess its sort of like just letting them soak for a long time in hot water. I would bring water to a boil in a little pot, and then turn off the heat and remove from stove. Next I would stir in the oats and pour into my thermos, seal it up and let it sit overnight. When you wake up in the morning, the oatmeal is done. I guess that really is cheating though, huh ? Its sort of like slow cooking. Well, anyway, I guess I don't really know anyway to eat them raw. I've got no experience with that, but I do think that the way I'm eating them is very nutritious.
