like i said, i have this great desire to do a 10 or 14 day water fast.
i am sure i will do a 3 day...
both books i have say that you should wait some time in between and build yourself up...eating right, etc. and i feel like the mcdougall way is the best and healthiest way.
all the books talk about animals in nature, which i have no experience with.. they say the natural way for animals when they are ill, is to go off, alone, and drink plenty of water...
i started out being a vegan for ethical reasons, but i really don't care about animals. i am a bird watcher, but know nothing about nature.
my daughter had a cat who's leg somehow got infected. she took it to the vet, who nickeled and dimed her to death til she had spent over 500 bucks on that cat. the leg was atrophied and the cat did not use it and kept the little bitty leg up next to her body. the vet wanted to amputate the leg and wanted $220.00 to cut it off. He said if she did not have it cut off, it would dry up and fall off in the house. she did not have the money, but would have found it somehow. i told my daughter to put the cat to sleep or bring it home to ...her...house and let the leg fall off. she brought it home. she was having to change her sheets very often from the pus on the bed. one day she called me and said that the cat was not eating, but was drinking tons of water. she kept filling the water bowl and the cat would keep drinking. i told her that was good, and was washing his body out and to just keep water available for the cat. then one day she called to say that she could not believe it, but the cat was trying to use the atrophied leg!
now, a few months later, the leg is as good as new!!!
this is my experience with nature... but when i was reading the books and amazon critiques on fasting, the cat story seemed to make it all mean more to me.
like i said, i have been vegan for 2 &1/2 years, and because i am so convinced this is the right way to live. so convinced that god never intended for us to eat animals, his precious animals... if you believe the bible, and i don't believe everything in it, you must believe that he takes care of the sparrows, etc. and that maybe he really has provided a way for us to heal ourselves.
i have this great desire to really really clean my body out.. to get every speck of meat that may be left in me out....
i would love to do a 40 day fast, but probably will never do that and yes, i will probably do a 10 or 14 day, just to really clean myself.i know i will do a 3 day, but they don't recommend fasting very often. so i will wait for sometime...
i am sorry it is so long and rambeling....
