When I first tried them I did it in the microwave and they were too hard and almost inedible. Maybe I did not use enough water? or cook long enough? Tasted great on stovetop but too time consuming for something you must tend and cleanup too difficult.

Now I measure out my oats and use about 2 to 3 parts water to oats. Add 1 cut up fruit and cinnamon in a small 3 "cup" rice cooker with slippery teflon interior. It turns itself off after 45-60 minutes but I am not waiting or watching because I am out on my 90 minute dog walk over hill and dale. When I get back it's had time to cook plus absorb any extra water left in the pot and puff up. It is PERFECT. No soaking. No tending. Easy cleanup.
