Well we met! At first I thought she stood me up I was late getting to the ferry because of heavy traffic to the ferry terminal so instead of just driving up and having her hop in the car I had to go find a place to park and pay a buck for 30 minutes. I thought that was dumb because I figured I would only be a minute. But NO Deb, couldn't find her anywhere. I kept looking at a couple of women who appeared to be standing around waiting for someone and kept thinking no that can't be her, but is it? I thought she couldn't have changed that much! And then when I heard them speak I knew for sure neither of them were her. I wanted to go have her paged but the line up to get on the next ferry was so long and I thought if I were to butt in and ask someone might flip out. So I wondered outside figuring I should go home and check my answering machine to see if she missed the ferry or perhaps chickened out. I really didn't know what else to do. And then I asked a fellow outside who worked there if there was any other possible place she could be waiting for me. Nope...this was the only place. But then he said she likely missed that ferry and she would probably be on the next one. I totally dismissed that idea but then thought better of it.....put more money in to buy more parking time and stood and waited some more.

Finally the next batch of people came through the arrivals and I spotted her right away. At least I thought it was her. She was wearing sunglasses that hid a lot of her face but when I saw her mouth twitch and noticed her crooked smile I knew instantly it was her. She caught sight of me grinning from ear to ear and then her face lit up and it was like a scene in a movie her arms were outstretched and she came running towards me. We embraced, told each other how wonderful we looked. It was actually weird looking at her. She really looked like she hadn't changed a bit. Except of course 25 years older! She looked old, so I guess I looked old to her too. And yet when I look at myself in the mirror I don't see my age. But then I see myself everyday so of course I can't see it like someone who hasn't laid eyes on me in 25 years! It was just weird, lol!

Our visit was only for 3 hours. We went for lunch at a nice restaurant that serves vegan food and went for a long stroll along the downtown waterfront area sitting on a park bench to catch up on a lot of stuff. It was really amazing that we really clicked and still had a lot in common. I think that was a major concern for her that we wouldn't be able to connect again but that was far from the truth.

We had a great visit and vowed it wouldn't take another 25 years to hook up again. Next time I will go over to the mainland to visit her.
