Hi Echo,

Sorry about the delay in responding. Thanks for your note! In hindsight, I should have
been more specific about New Mexico's autumn ritual of green chile roasting. Chile is an
obsession here in New Mexico. and the term "chile" generally refers to a savory sauce made
from either the immature green chiles (roasted), or mature red chiles (dried and ground).
We are the only state in the union with an official State Question: "Red or Green?"

In case you didn't learn enough on YouTube, here is more fascinating info on our state's
addiction to chile:

And a short poem from the same website:

Ah, New Mexico, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways:
The sunshine; the dry, light air; the cultural diversity; and, oh yes, THE CHILE!
Whether it's the delicious Green Chile of late Summer, or the rich Red Chile of Autumn,
here in the heart of chile country, we lovers of New Mexico Red and Green are truly blessed!

How wonderful that you live in Vancouver, BC. Our family celebrated my parents' 50th
wedding anniversary in Victoria last June. It was a memorable trip, and I will never forget
the beauty of the area, especially the coastline (a far cry from the high desert!) and the
magnificent forests. I lived in Spokane, WA for seven years, and visited the Seattle area
several times, but that was my first trip to British Columbia. I hope to return one day, and
visit more of the island, plus the grand city of Vancouver. Perhaps we'll meet!

Echo, have a nice evening. I hope your temperatures have cooled down a bit.
