Hi, Becky! Good question -- and good books you've been reading! I loved The Secret Life of Bees. Read the book, THEN see the movie. The film stays very true to the book (which is rare). My reading is going very slowly because I am working VERY long hours and read all day for my jobs. Right now I am reading a book about narrative writing by a variety of acclaimed journalists. It's like taking a graduate course with all these wonderful people. But it's very slow going (for the reasons outlined above). Unlike Gale, I do like the occasional romance, but not the conventional standards. I like chicklit when I want something light. In between, I'm usually reading self-help kind of stuff or books on meditation or mediation (for my work). It's great to see people's suggestions -- good thread! ~Jo
