Becky, who wrote the bee book? It sounds neat. Years and years ago I read this fascinating book called "The Year of the Ant" that followed the cycle of ants through a calendar year. I wish I still had it. I'd like to read the bee book.

I read the midwife book a few years ago. I seem to remember that some parts were very good and some parts were a great disappointment to me. Break down in story line, or not the way I thought it should have played out, or something. It was a very strongly written book overall.

I used midwives, so it was very interesting to me. The possibility of death (we thought more in terms of the baby) but at any rate, my husband and I carefully considered the possible consequences of not being in a hospital before we decided to go forward - we used midwives in two states, so we re-evaluated in the second state because we were once again looking at distance to town, more children to be impacted if something went wrong, further from family for support, new (unknown to us) midwife, etc.

and I never heard of the Widow for one year book. But if you look at my reading, you'll see that most of what I read is fairly old (maybe I'm just catching up on all the reading I gave up for all those years I read "Goodnight Moon" and "The Little Engine that Could" a million times, and adventure stories, and mission stories, and travel stories and the encyclopedia, and everything else Mom's read to and with their children and nothing for themselves.
