Wow, Summer, what a neat surprise! Spokane is truly a hidden jewel. I lived there for 7 years
in the 1990s and was pleasantly surprised by the number of vegetarians and vegans in the
community. We held monthly vegan potlucks and ran a very active animal rights group. When
I lived there, Spokane had a fabulous vegetarian restaurant called Mizuna which is no longer
strictly veg but still considered one of the city's best dining establishments, with a wide
selection of vegetarian and vegan options (www.mizuna.com). I moved to the Southwest in
1999, but I still miss Spokane and the many compassionate, caring people I knew there.
Maybe it's time for a visit!
