It IS really good, Becky, so I'm glad you're going to try it. For that reason alone, I would recommend making the full recipe. But, if you really think you can't use up the full recipe, you can certainly cut it in half without any problem. But, yes, the onions need to cook for the same amount of time. They need to get very dark and caramelized (that's the secret to the awesome flavor of the pate) -- watch them closely so they don't burn, though. Let me know how you like it! ~Jo
