We leave here on Friday, heading to Homer for a week (about 226 miles from Anchorage), then Seward for another week (173 miles from Homer), than to Valdez for a few days (about 425 miles from Seward). These are the last few places we want to see in Alaska before heading back to the lower 48. They are all on the coast, and are more touristy than Fairbanks and Anchorage. We’ve spent about a month in Anchorage and it has been mostly cold and rainy, more like a typical Sacramento winter, with temperatures in the 50’s and 60’s. They are saying this is the rainiest summer ever (have actually broken records) and temperatures are running 10 degrees below normal. Now, I was happy enough to get away from the hot Sacramento summers, but this is getting a little ridiculous! :( The blog is up to date for now. Despite all the bad weather, we were able to get out quite a bit while in Anchorage, and I’ve tried to capture the highlights on the blog.
