After a really tough session Monday that I've been doing a lot of work with since (essentially why I'm not the concert pianist I dreamed of being - and worked so many years toward before I had my son and went a different musical direction), I've contacted one of my dearest, longtime friends who teaches music at UCLA to ask him to help me find a top-notch piano teacher to work with me. At the very least I'll be a happier person and better teacher myself, but it will also address this nagging thing of not knowing how accomplished I may have become if not flattened by the loss and betrayal (violinist and my mother) which happened my first year in college - there on full scholarship with every expectation of a career as a pianist. The lights just went out when that happened. I graduated with a performance degree but nowhere near expectations, darkened by such profound grief.
Anyway, I have no idea if I'll find a match for what I'm looking for but I'm going to try. I'm also about to actually write out (it's composed, just looking for right paper and such) and mail a note to the violinist (skeery!). Oh, and I lost 3.2 pounds this last week. (!!!)
Maybe most important of all, I just made teasecake again. ;)
