I have been doing this for about 13 years, following a few years
where I had been completely starving myself. I eat very little-- all
"healthy"-- and then I c&s. I c&S in very large quantities-- whole
cakes, pizzas, bags of chips, etc. I started out with small amounts
& over time it has grown to where nothing ever satisfies me.
I HATE c&s so much! I hate it! It makes me gain weight. I feel like
a miserable, out-of-control, wasteful, ugly person. I have tried
many times to stop. The most I've ever made it was 2 weeks.
In December, I bought the book Intuitive Eating. It has really
helped me a lot. I still have had some bad days, but not nearly as
much as before. The book says it can take awhile to adapt to the
new ideas. The main principle behind it is to eat what you want
when you are hungry & to stop when you are full.... to be in touch
with your hunger. The idea of actually eating what I want is so
scary! But I have realized that if I'm hungry & I eat a piece of pizza,
it's not going to make me fat. However, c&sing a whole pizza will
make me fat.
I have been following the book for 6 weeks now & I have not
gained any weight at all. I haven't weighed myself, but I think I
have lost a few pounds. I just feel better mentally.
I still have binge days where I c&s everything in sight, but I'm
hoping I can stick with this idea of not dieting & somehow the days
will become fewer and fewer.
I know the same thing doesn't work for everyone, but this is
helping me, so I thought I would suggest it.
Good luck, everyone. I'm sorry you are going through this, but
hopefully, we can all recover at some point.
