Hi!
I used to eat whole grain bread and was very addicted to it. I read
this article on frugivorelifestyle. I have lost close to 25lbs in the
last 5 months. This article might help you.

Grains: Agents Of Degeneration
The information in this article is not intended to reflect judgment
or to put anyone down about the choices they make or to denigrate
the foods that have sustained civilization for the last ten thousand
years. It is not an attempt to bring down the grain industry, or to
moralize against certain choices. But the situation has become
such that there are people genuinely seeking to attain healthy
bodies, free of aging, pain, and disease, who are being told that
the key to health and vitality is to eat a natural diet of cooked
whole grains.
The actuality is, human beings do not have the physiological
structure to eat grain foods without incurring serious harm. The
tragedy is that millions of people throughout the world are
consuming grains, believing they are gaining health and nutrition,
despite the fact that grains are not suitable for the anatomical
structure of homo sapiens. Grains are a food that is not found in
great abundance outside of cultivated fields, because they do not
grow well on their own, except in very small quantities, filling a
very small niche in the ecosystem.
In nature, only certain species of birds, insects, and animals ever
eat such foods, and they require extremely specific and drastic
physical adaptations to function in this manner. The birds that eat
grains have a special pouch in their throats that allows the grain to
digest for long periods of time. Also, these birds have a gizzard,
which is full of gravel that grinds the grain in the bird’s body, just
so that it can obtain nutrition from the harsh food. In order to eat
grains, these birds have to have gizzards that are so powerful they
can grind even steel.
The human body cannot come anywhere close to grinding steel, let
alone grain. It is clear to anyone that grains cannot be eaten by
humans in their natural state, so we grind the grains with
machines to make flour, or we boil them for long periods of time
just to make them palatable. Doing this allows for consumption,
but it does nothing to reduce or eliminate the damaging poisons
contained in such food.
The toxic effects of grains are so powerful that they are destroying
entire generations. Each generation is becoming more diseased and
sickly than the last. The fact that Alzheimer's disease is running
rampant, not only among the elderly but also among adults in their
40s or 50s, is a direct result of the massive increase in the
availability and consumption of refined grain products. As the
century progresses, the amount of people suffering premature
mental breakdown and decay will increase exponentially, unless
something is done to reverse the massive intake of the chemicals
and compounds found in grains.
Billions of dollars worth of cosmetic products, including makeup
and anti-aging creams, are purchased every year by men and
women who are unhappy with the state of their appearance and
the manner in which they are rapidly and prematurely aging. Plastic
surgeons earn millions of dollars with laser treatments and surgery
to remove wrinkled or sagging skin. People have become so
desperate that they are even willing to receive injections of Botox, a
severe neuro-toxin, into their faces just for temporary wrinkle
relief. This poison is so hazardous that it can paralyze the muscles
of the throat, preventing recipients from swallowing, yet
individuals are willing to take these risks just to temporarily reduce
the severity of the physical deterioration wrought by grains. The
cosmetic industries rely completely on ignorance, desperation, and
denial of the true cause of the deteriorating appearance in so many
people. Grains are the substance most responsible for a rapid and
dramatic degeneration and irritation of the skin’s texture, sheen,
and glow, and every single grain-based meal results in the further
degeneration of one’s youthful radiant appearance. Rapid and
remarkable reversals of an aged appearance can be experienced in
as little as days or weeks, once the consumption of grains has
been ceased, but the true extent of the damage that has been
wrought will be apparent when one discovers that even months or
years later, improvements are being made. This is a terrifying
testament to the depth and degree of the harm that these
seemingly natural and innocent foods impose on everyone who
consumes them.
Of course, the longer one has consumed these foods and the older
one is, the less capacity the body will have to completely reverse
the damage that has been done. For those wishing to preserve
what youth and beauty they have, or who are seeking to regain
their appearance to the fullest extent possible, this dietary change
will have a greater impact than all of the hundreds of thousands of
cosmetic products put together.
The situation is only worsening, because never before have human
beings been able to consume so many of the toxic compounds
found in grains, in such a concentrated form. Because of the
massive industrial production and supply line of refined, processed
grains, and due to their inexpensive nature, people have begun to
eat more of these foods than any civilization or group of people in
the entire history of the world. Most common weight loss programs
recognize the inferior quality of grains. In fact, even the most basic
weight loss programs recognize the efficacy of eliminating breads
and pastas from one's diet in order to drop the pounds and burn
fat. These foods are so refined and concentrated that the body is
overwhelmed by the massive load, and has no choice but to clothe
the body in fat, as there is no where else for it to shuttle the
excess of distorted, warped calories introduced into the body. The
sad thing is, people are subjecting themselves to starvation diets,
fasting programs or replacing bread with meat, when the simplest
method is to eat all one cares for of fruits, vegetables and greens. It
is nearly impossible to overeat on these foods, and there is no need
to suffer through the trauma of a crash diet or forced starvation
(fasting programs)
Why, then, do so many people proceed down this pathway of
sickness and decay?
In the search for long-lasting, youthful energy and a flawlessly
functioning body, there is a certain faulty but appealing logic in the
idea of eating grains. Because of the way we have been raised to
appreciate the image of the agricultural society as bringing benefit
to humanity, we perceive these foods as being very wholesome and
earthy. The grain industry has also succeeded in promoting the
idea that grains are a necessary source of fiber, even going so far
as to sell the waste products of their refined grains (the hulls and
husks) in bottles and jars, claiming that this is the solution to
constipation and colon trouble. The fiber in grains, however, is
harsh, irritating, and toxic to the intestines. Millions of people are
suffering from excruciating colon damage due to the gluten,
lectins, and irritating fiber found in grain products. Thousands of
people each year have portions of their colons removed just to find
some small measure of relief. The tragedy is that relief would be
swift and sure, if only the foods that the human body is adapted to
were eaten. The only source of fiber that human beings need is
that found in fresh fruits, vegetables, and greens. The fiber found
in these foods is soothing and health-promoting.
There is a much more significant reason, however, for the way in
which grains and grain products have come to represent a part of
nearly every single meal, and nearly every single food product on
the shelves. Unbeknownst to nearly everyone consuming these
products on a daily basis is the fact that grains are an extremely
powerful and addictive drug. This is not said lightly or
metaphorically. They are literally drugs, containing opiates of the
most addictive quality. This is one reason for the fact that the
aisles of every supermarket in the world are cluttered with
products primarily composed of grain concoctions, including
cereals, breads, muffins, cookies, cakes, pastries, and chips. Nearly
everyone in the world, unfortunately, is addicted to the opiates in
grains, and the process of breaking this addiction is an unpleasant
and frightening one. Most people don’t even understand the
reasons behind their cravings for bread or pasta, and they may
think that they simply lack will power. This is not true. What they
don’t realize is that they are dependent on grains to regulate their
emotions and to keep themselves in a state of sedation, through
the consistent ingestion of the opiate compounds found in any
grain product. This is why all of the good intentions in the world
are not enough to break the insidious hold that grains have on
almost every culture of the world. They are an integral part of
celebrations, funerals, meetings, weddings, and parties. Grandma’s
pie is something that haunts us to our graves, and also brings us
there earlier than we might expect. Drug addiction is difficult
enough to break on any terms, but even more so when the drug
itself is socially acceptable and even required for nearly every
significant event. Until one realizes the severe nature of their grain
issue, and accepts the fact that it is a literal opium addiction being
dealt with, it won’t matter how many doctors or nutritionists point
out the negative health consequences of these foods.
Unknown to almost anyone, even most doctors and scientists, is
that these foods actually accelerate the aging process inside of the
human body, not just the outer appearance and weight. More
people than ever before in history are relying on these foods, and
they are becoming more sickly and aged than ever before. Millions
of people are being worn down before their time because of the
heavy toll the strain of processing these foods is taking on their
body, day in and day out. The enormous effort and fight against
the thousands of toxic compounds in grains is one of the primary
causes of disease and an early grave.
Powerful substances called lectins, which are sticky molecules with
the capacity to bind to the linings of human tissue, particularly the
intestinal cells, are found in all grains. Gradually, lectins can
completely erode the intestinal walls. The damage that lectins can
cause, however, is in no way limited to the intestine. Lectins can
also bind to any tissue in the body, including the thryroid, the
pancreas, or the kidneys. Once attached to these organs, the
lectins disrupt the proper functioning of the organ tissue, causing
the body to send white blood cells in a defensive response. The
white blood cells attack the lectins, but they also destroy the organ
tissue in the body. The collagen in joints is particularly vulnerable,
and the lectins in grains have been specifically linked to the painful
and debilitating condition of rheumatoid arthritis.
Almost every individual on the planet who is consuming grains is
suffering from some form of lectin-caused physical ailment. The
problem is, most people don't realize that they are experiencing
problems until it is too late, and serious damage has already
occurred, or else they don't even realize that their energy levels are
being compromised until they are fortunate enough to eliminate
these foods, and experience the remarkable improvement in
energy and reduced symptoms such as allergies, arthritis, or
digestive troubles. Anyone eating grains or legumes on a long-
term basis will, at some point or another, begin to experience
organ breakdown or nerve, skin, and joint problems.
The situation is exacerbated by the fact that, for most of history,
these foods were eaten in a very bland form, without the spices
and tantalizing flavors that have been gathered from around the
world to make them more palatable and tolerable. Throughout
history, people have consumed these foods not because they
preferred them, or because they were tasty on their own, but
because they were the only source of food available that could be
readily stored without spoilage (due to their lack of water content)
and that were available to the poor and the working class. Not only
have we succeeded in refining grains so that they are consumable
in more concentrated amounts, but by bypassing our natural
aversion to these tasteless and unpleasant flavours through the use
of spices, we have succeeded in creating a situation whereby we
can load massive quantities of these degrading and dehydrating
foods into our stomachs, increasing even further the intake of
these foods, unprecedented in all of human history.
The question for many who are struggling on tight budgets is what
they can replace grain products with, since these foods tend to be
so inexpensive. The answer is that one will have to make due with
the choices that are available in one's own particular locale and
environment. Of course, a completely raw frugivore diet is the
healthiest, but most people are not prepared or ready for such a
step. The very best choices for cooked, concentrated calorie
sources are frugivore foods like squash, plantains, or breadfruit.
These foods will cause the least physical damage to the human
body of all the cooked foods. Next most optimal are the roots,
such as yams, potatoes, sweet potatoes, turnips, cassava, taro, and
rutabaga. While there are still problems with these foods from a
health standpoint, they pale in comparison to the problems
inherent to grains.
Understand that this is not about a decision to eat grains being
"wrong" or "right." Everyone has the right to choose how to live
their lives, as long as they are not interfering with the rights of
others. Each person can choose whether they wish to genuinely
halt the abnormal aging process set in motion by the consumption
of grains, or if they wish to spend thousands of dollars on
cosmetics and surgery in order to partially cover up and conceal
the symptoms of the premature aging rather than dealing with the
root cause.
However, it is undeniable that anyone seeking to experience a life
of health, energy, and balance would benefit from eliminating
grains in their diet permanently. Grains are agents of addiction and
contain serious poisons and the fact that they are treated so lightly
and are so ubiquitous in our modern civilization is a great tragedy.
The suffering and social and physical degradation caused by grains
should never be underestimated.
