Hi RidgeRunner, Actually there are some portions of the website that are public, as opposed to members only. Also, over the last year or so, Dr. Fuhrman has been putting out a wealth of information that is totally free to the public. Have you checked out the 'disease-proof' blog, and the recordings of his internet radio show called 'Nutritional Wisdom'? Also there is a 'Whats Cooking' Newsletter that is free to the public. The radio shows have had some amazing guests, and are a real treasure. I don't feel that Dr. F. is greedy, as I think he really expends an awful lot of his time on the member site answering questions, putting out newsletters, and whatnot. In fact, with his schedule, I don't know how he finds the time for it all. I think it is important for him to be able to make some money off of the endeavor in order to help finance things like the radio show, due to the difficulty of finding appropriate sponsors that won't try to make him water down his powerful message. Many of us would like to see Dr. F. get his message out to a wider audience through the media, however, that does take a lot of money when the advertisers aren't interested in your message, or would want you to compromise it (many people do compromise their message in order to gain fame and recognition, but Dr. F. will not). Even on public television, instead of 'sponsors', you now have to please 'under-writers'. The only way to get around these things and to keep your message pure is to have some deep pockets. Aside from the issue of media exposure, it also takes money if you want to do studies that aren't funded by the pharmaceutical industry! Anyway... a great deal of what is available on the member site can be obtained outside of it. The disease-proof blog posts many of the same recipes that you have access to as a website member, although the presentation/interface on the member-site might be nicer. The main things that you get from the website that you can't find elsewhere are 1) a very lively member forum, 2) the newlsetters, 3) the monthly member tele-conferences, which are recorded, and 4) the Ask the Doctor forum. For me, I think it is well worth the $7.95 a month that it cost me. Come to think of it, I think I might be paying less than that, as I got some sort of annual discount deal. Speaking of Kale and Collards, did you ever try Shelly's 'Blended Greens Soup' which calls for both of those ingredients? It is wonderful, and makes you feel very healthy. Perhaps its not too far a jump from Blended Spinach Salad to Blended Greens Soup??!! Good luck in getting down to your high school weight! We are about the same age, as I'll be turning 50 on my next birthday. I am 4'11", and actually below my high school weight! I remember weighing 105 pounds at some point in high school, and right now I only weight 90. It still amazes me! I have a sweet tooth too, but have been indulging it in all the delicious summer fruits, including watermelon, which has suddenly disappeared due to the change of weather. On the 4th of July, I made a banana flag cake, which was featured in the free 'Whats Cooking' newlsetter, and it was a big hit, and impressed even me. It was a cake decorated like the american flag, with strawberries and coconut forming the red and white stripes, and blueberries for the field of blue. Anyway, it was pretty amazing! Best wishes! Claudia
