Hi everyone,

due to horrible irritable bowel syndrome, I am unable to digest foods high in protein or fat. I'm doing excellent following a McDougall-diet but am impressed by the ETL-concept.

Following ETL, how can I keep my daily caloric intake over 1,500 and yet consume very little fat and protein? Right now I am eating loads of fruits (high in sugar) and also two big portions of grains (partly sprouted, partly freshly ground, both wholemeal millet, wheat, spelt, oat etc.) to get my calories. Of course, I focus on huge amounts of greens and other veggies which I can digest.

I don't get that pyramid-concept of Dr. Fuhrman's to get at least 50% of calories from vegetables. 750 calories equals over twelve pounds of salad.

I've read Dr. Fuhrman's recommendation to raise the amount of nuts (which I cannot digest too well), seeds (which I cannot digest too well) and starchy vegetables to have more calories, but again: 300 calories equals about three pounds of carrots.

I'd be glad to read any suggestions.

Thanks a lot and with every good wish,
Andy.
