It is a diet that emphasizes nutrient dense whole plant foods. It tends to reverse or hold in check many chronic diseases. Most overweight people lose weight rapidly, at least at first. But it is not strictly speaking a weight loss diet. The main goal is longevity. I have lost 56 lbs in 6 months, and still losing at the rate of 1/2 to 1 lb per week.
