John, I think 8 fruits is too many to have every day, but in one day occasionally, I don't see a problem. As Claudia says, it should not displace the other whole plant foods. Vegetables, especially greens and leafy greens are the most important component. I lost weight rapidly at first, 9 lbs in one week. Then it gradually slowed down to 1.5 lbs, then 1. Now in 6 months I have lost 56 lbs and am losing 1/2 to 1 lb per week. Welcome to the healthiest diet in the world!
