Having 'unlimited' beans and fruit is predicated on the assumption that you are basically filling up on vegetables first. You want to start your meals with the salad, and be sure to get in plenty of cooked as well as raw vegetables. Conversely, if you fill up on the beans and fruits first, and try to have some veggies afterwards, you will have trouble getting in as much vegetables, if you've already over-eaten on the beans and fruits. As long as you are eating tons of vegetables (think very big here), then over-eating on the beans and fruits to the point of interfering with weight loss should not be an issue. That is, you should be able to get quite satisfied without eating too many calories. Of course, you are supposed to stop when you are full, and not just keep eating until you are in agony! As long as you are eating plenty of veggies, your body should give you a pretty good idea when you've had enough, and then you just need to respect that advice! Lentils are a legume, and are in the same category as beans. I would say that if you've really cut out the excess sodium, you may experience an initial substantial loss of weight from not retaining as much water. In general, most people find that they are able to lose weight faster on this diet than they have on others, although there are still some that lose slower than others.
