It depends what you mean.

If you are referring to the idea that it is unhealthy to combine certain foods, such as fruits and vegetables in the same meal, Dr. Fuhrman has stated that it is a totally false notion, completely unsupported by science.

On the other hand, there are certain foods whose nutrients are better absorbed when eaten in combination. For example, if you eat your salad with a nut-based dressing (which has some fat in it), the fat has been shown to increase the absorption of the nutrients in the greens. It is believed that this is because we chew up the greens better, more efficiently breaking down the cell walls, when there is some fat in the dressing.
