I tried doing the aggressive no grains/starchy veg approach and it was just too hard to keep up. The original 6 week plan allows one cup of whole grains or starchy veg per day. I find that's the perfect amount. Just enough to mix in with my veg and for taste but the limit keeps me from bingeing on it. My usual is half a cup of rolled oats with breakfast and then either a slice of wholewheat toast with lunch or half a cup of quinoa or brown rice or a small potato with my lunch. No starches usually with my dinner unless I skipped them at breakfast or lunch.
