Not true, some members do use salt sparingly and with a view to stopping. He has previously stated on his forum that 300mg of added sodium a day is acceptable. That is about 1/8th of a tsp. What I do is I prepare my meals 100% salt free and then eat 3-5 long slow mouthfulls without adding anything. Then if i still want it I add a tiny bit of herbal salt on the surface. I'm planning to work up to eating half the meal salt-less etc until I'm off it.

One of the things behind salt restriction is the concept of getting in touch with true hunger vs toxic hunger. Salt artificially stimulates the tastebuds so that normal appetite is overridden and eating healthful correct amounts of food is hence more difficult. So that's another big incentive to lose the habit at some point.

I am also a total salt addict but the book The Pleasure Trap explains about the taste sense adaptation and that it can be overcome. Brilliant highly recommended book (Dr Fuhrman also recommends it and sells it).
