" For example...I want to figure out if I can eat home made whole grain bread vs a potato for my metabolism" If you are really serious about losing weight, you might want to forget about bread and potatoes for at least six weeks, and substitute with foods that have a higher nutrient per calorie ratio - vegetables. That is really the heart of Dr Fuhrman's program. Nutritional excellence - keeping starchy foods - grains and potatoes - at a minimum while maximizing your consumption of vegetables and fruits. Think greens and dark berries as well as beans.
