| | Subject: | losing muscle on vegan diet | |

I'm 70 years old (male) and have had very good success on a whole food, vegan diet in two years. Cholesterol dropped from 230 to 140, weight dropped from 240 to 190, blood pressure dropped from 150/90 (with meds) to 120/75 (without meds), carotid arteries opening up as evidenced by decreased blood flow velocity, feeling very well and intellectually alert. I have one problem however. I'm losing muscle in my limbs. Does this just mean that I've got to work out, is it a necessary concomitant of aging, is it a result of not enough protein in the diet? Please help. I want to hear from everyone who has an idea, especially any who have had the problem and overcome it. Thanks, James
