This is a hunch based on no hard evidence whatsoever -- I wonder whether supplementing with inulin can help with oxalate intolerance. I believe I have oxalate intolerance based on some arthritic symptoms that were apparently induced by large amounts of sweet potatoes and relieved by eliminating the same. I've seen lots of research indicating that inulin selectively increases lactobacilli and bifidi and reduces pathogens. I know that only a few select lactobacilli are thought of as the oxalate-degraders but from what I have seen many of the common strains have at least some oxalate-degrading activity, so I wonder if the intolerance is largely a deficiency of beneficial bacteria, brought about by a diet that isn't high enough in prebiotics (in particular, inulin).
