I think ETL is a good plan, but I found that what works better for me is the McDougall way of eating. The link is on the main Vegsource page, on left: "Wellness/McDougall". Due to food allergies and gluten intolerance, I cannot eat beans or grains, but I CAN eat sweet potatoes! And everyday I eat more than the amount allowed by ETL. I don't think Dr. Fuhrman looks favorably upon eating potatoes "until full and satisfied", as Dr. McDougall does. I am 54, and personally I've found I have MUCH MORE energy, and feel MUCH better overall, eating 4-5 sweet potatoes per day, in addition to LOTS of vegs and a few fruit servings. I didn't have a lot of weight to lose (10lbs.) and my main goal was/is HEALTH, but the 10 lbs. came off effortlessly by eating this way and it was so easy and satisfying! Aside from the addition of sweet potatoes, the McDougall eating plan that I follow seems very consistent with ETL. Do what works best for YOU. Good luck!
