You might consider an Australian favorite: a bean sandwich on whole wheat. Make it like you would a hamburger with the bread toasted: e.g., mustard, pickles, lettuce, onion, etc. A couple of these will give you all the energy you need and fill you up. Depending on the bread, I have bought some that is 200 calories per slice, but I think most is 100 calories. Mash the beans (I use a mixture of several different types cooked with seasonings I like: i.e., good enough to eat alone)and spread on the bread, etc. I take these on long hikes. A cup of mashed beans is enough for two sandwiches.
