They are both healthy, but there are differences. ETL focuses on micronutrients. Dr. Fuhrman stresses the importance of getting the best protein, fat and carbohydrates that you can. He does not stress low-fat or vegan, but recommends that people get tha majority of their food (at least 90%) from unrefined plant food. The McDougall plan is starch-based and focused on low-fat, whereas ETL is green vegetable based and the amount of fat is considered secondary to the type of fat, although he recomends low-fat for overweight individuals. ETL is more restrictive with grains and starchy vegetables. McDougall is more restrictive with fruit, nuts, seeds, and beans.
